Holiday Season

Holiday Season

I imagine being a business owner during the holidays, is harder and more chaotic than the normal chaos during the holidays. Especially when the small business is a retail shop that has the potential to provide gifts, during this busy occasion and giving season. It is hard for me as a mother of two young children, wanting to do everything and anything at any point of time during the year; but the holidays seem to have so many small and exciting things to experience with children especially, young enough to enjoy the magic of the season.

Having a small business means understanding when the “going gets going” the owner is the only one to get, which means you get up and go! You are the only form of revenue, you are making it happen, and you are the only one that can make or break your business. If you are not there, then there is no business to have. So when it comes to the holidays, the joyous satisfaction that you get for producing and having a busy season that brings in revenue that allows you to keep your doors open is rewarding and a great feeling of pride; that allows you to continue doing what you love while working for yourself. But it is hard not to be upset and question yourself, wondering if you are working too hard to ensure your livelihood, at what cost? To the family at home and the memories that could be missed.

Every year is a continued lesson that I’ve learned, and I can look back at things that I did well and things that I did not. Determine to make each year better and smoother, maybe I can cut down on the stress I create for myself. I learned shopping all year, for holidays and occasions makes a big difference when the holidays come, not just for cutting down the stress of gift-giving and running around but helps financially. I can learn to make work better for me. to grow and do better. Have a happier season another year to continue doing for another year.
